double feature today!
if you’ve been keeping up with my IG stories, you know I’m 110% in love… with notion. I decided to make a page called in the oven where I could post my rough drafts. some get fleshed out in the moment, but I’m sure I’ll leave a good number of them as bite-sized reflections. today’s got fleshed out a bit more, so I’ll be posting it here too:
me *handshake emoji* thinking.
I won’t even say overthinking—my brain just moves that fast. but it’s SO. EASY. to end up wondering what might be required from me down the line!
when you’re used to thinking you need to be prepared for every possible scenario, you can become a bit of a bag lady. because it never hurts to have a band-aid. and a tampon. and a pad, in case I run into someone who doesn’t use tampons. and a pen, because remember that one time the pen didn’t work to sign the receipt at dinner? the restaurant probably had more pens. but I had one in my bag!
resourcefulness has its perks, but it easily becomes burdensome and anxiety-inducing.
tbh, thinking is fine. it’d be pretty hard for me to not think. but I want to learn how to pack light. because, not to be dramatic, but there’s nothing worse than coming home after a long day with a sore shoulder because you decided to lug around your medium telfar when a small would’ve sufficed.
focus on today’s troubles. yes, every day will have something, but every day is covered. just like they all have been, and will continue to be.
Matthew 6:25-34 (NASB1995, bolded some bits for emphasis)
25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28 And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
and once more, for good measure (MSG version this time)
34 “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.
be blessed bbyssss
